Luxury from the 30s in fantastic condition!
The Dodge Series D8 was an upper midsize passenger car from the Chrysler Group, introduced with minor modifications as the successor to the Dodge D5 in October 1937 as the 1938 model and built for only one year. The Dodge Series D8 offered here is the better equipped 4-door touring sedan with trunk. Built in 1938, documents show the history of the Dodge in Denmark since 1955, but it probably came to Scandinavia as a new car. The car was imported to Germany over 20 years ago and then completely restored. In addition to a new paint job and body repair work, the technology was completely renewed. In the interior you can recognize the upscale class by the high-quality materials, such as wood, Bakelite and chrome. There is also a heater installed, which was far from being a matter of course in the 30s. 4 interior lights, coat hooks, crank and pop-up windows were mostly luxuries even in the 50s! About 15 years ago the D8 was registered in Germany, all necessary documents are available. Also available are various Danish documents from 1955, as well as contemporary repair manuals and spare parts lists and catalogs. An extensive photo documentation of the restoration and some spare parts drawings complete the history. In 2010, the Oldi-Tax appraisal certified the car in an exceptionally good overall condition of 1-2 and a value of € 25,000. Since then, the car has covered only 55 kilometers. To make the Dodge ready to drive again after about 7 years of standing, it got an extensive service last year.
Cars from the 30's that capture the spirit of the times with such condition are hard to find. With dimensions that resemble a minivan and an elevated seating position, one is enthroned in the armchair and sofa-like bench seats almost above most normal passenger cars on the road.
